India during past few years has been consistently growing at higher rate; but gap between rural and urban India still remains very high in terms of well being and economic progress of its people. This despite Govt Of India attaching high importance to rural welfare and accelerated rural growth. Unfortunately the intentions are not getting adequate translated into ground level actions. Huge amounts of budgetary allocations by Govt remain unutilised. There are several reasons for this lack of adequate progress on this front. Amongst the most important ones is lack of awareness, lack of knowledge and lack of information amongst the beneficiaries – the rural communities.
During the non-digital era, when physical reach was the only option , it was practically impossible to overcome these hurdles due to poor infra coming in the way of physical reach.
But the advent of the digital era and fast spread of net access through mobile has changed this situation dramatically. Thanks to the Govt s persistent efforts, internet connectivity and availability of affordable smartphones is spreading even in remote areas.
The missing piece now is DIGITAL LITERACY. In absence of Digital literacy, a vast majority of rural India is missing out on access to wealth of information and functionalities available to them thr digital. Information and online facilities that can transform their lives. This is the challenge Parima has decided to take on. Our mission is to spread Digital literacy across rural India at an accelerated pace. We firmly believe that is the key for bringing about Parivartan ( Transformation ) in rural India.
Promoters of Parima have had the opportunity to study closely the prevailing situation in rural India thr hands-on work in some parts of the country over the last 3 years. This has helped the team to get first hand understanding of the ground realities and conceptualise solutions that could bring about fast paced progress of rural areas.
Based on careful study, practical, easy to understand training programmes and information tools have been devised, tested and perfected to impart relevant Digital Literacy to rural masses. To empower them to get what they are entitled to thr self help. To empower them to add wealth of knowledge freely available across the web which can change the fortunes of their families. To expose them to the world of opportunities which can help them diversify their incomes.
Parima team has decided to use their knowledge, experience and dedicate time to this cause as a part of their giving back to the society. However implementation of this mission will need village level mobilisation, facilitation and coordination. Given the low rural incomes, the local resources engaged for this will need to be suitably financially compensated. Given our vision to steadily cover the entire country, funds needed will be substantial. We appeal to you to partner with us in this journey.
